It depends on the size of a farm.
A wind farm may require between 15 and 30 hectares
per MW of installed capacity, depending on the
site’s topography, but of this surface area only
about 5% is used for equipment and back-up structures,
including wind turbines, electric lines, sub-stations
and access roads, thanks to which the rest of
land can retain its compatible uses.
In the case of a photovoltaic solar farm, the
size of the area will depend on the technology
used.
Polycrystalline panels mounted in a fixed position
require 2.5 ha per MW of installed capacity, whereas
thin-layer panels — 5 ha per MW of installed capacity. |
